Starlene Speaks at Duncanville High School

When I attended Duncanville High School,
I often got in trouble for talking too much in class.
Today, they invited me back to speak!
It was an honor.
After all these years, I'm still filled with Panther Pride.

I WON!!!

I ran a 5k a week ago and came in 4th. So I wanted to try to improve my time and hopefully medal.  I ran the Prairie Lights Sneak a Peak 5k in Grand Prairie last night and I WON 1st place. I also improved my time and made 2 new friends. It was pretty cool!  But the lesson is to never give up. Don't quit. Keep on running and you will win!

Look for it to air throughout the fall.  ~ Starlene

Our Father Offers Protection

While driving by a park the other day, a big, beautiful dog ran in front of my car. I stopped to let it cross and watched to see where it was going in such a hurry. I panicked when we saw a little girl running away from the dog as fast as she could. At first, we couldn’t tell where she was headed. But then, just as the huge dog got close to her heels, the girl leaped into the arms of her father, who had dashed across the field to rescue her. I couldn’t help but relate what we witnessed to how God works. Our Father is always there with open arms to protect us and He’s always on time!

Give God Your Battles...

My best friend & I finally got to chat on the phone today about the prophecy Bishop Brady spoke to her son during church Sunday. He said something happened to him that made him feel like someone punched him in the stomach & that God said things were about to get better!  Then I received news today that felt like a blow.  I put it aside, to deal with later.  But within hours, I got an email that replaced my concern with joy.  While I was taking care of what I could do, God was taking care of what I couldn’t.  From our testimonies, be reminded that the battle isn’t yours; it’s the Lord’s and He never loses a fight!

Real Men Cook 2010

There are some events we look forward to all year and
Real Men Cook is one of them!
Each Father's Day
men from all over the community compete in a cook-off
to raise money for charity and bring the community together.
My friend, Terry Allen
has invited me to emcee the event for the past 10 years.
It's an honor.
He calls us all his future wives.
I like to think of us as
Terry's Angels!

Spread Kindness

"Someone just sent me a message that brightened my day! It was a wonderful way to start the week. So I'm ecouraging YOU to do the same. Take a moment and send someone a note of kindness. It can brighten their day and yours. You reap what you sow!"

Save the Best for Last

Growing up, we were often called in order by our last names. That means I was often last or close to it. Back then… it seemed awful. But in hindsight, it actually gave me more time to evaluate & prepare. So when it seems like you’re last to be recognized or when you’re down to your last try, last dime or someone is getting on your last nerve, rejoice. God could be allowing you to prepare for future blessings!

Feeling Empty & Drained? It Could Lead to Good Things!

If you’re feeling empty or drained, don’t let it keep you down. Be strengthened, by praising Him more. My mom says, “an empty wheel barrel makes the most noise!”

ESA Cancer Awareness Day Was a Success

Special thanks to everyone who came out to support the 16th Annual ESA Cancer Awareness Day in Duncanville. I was honored to be the Celebrity Chairperson for such a wonderful event in my own home town.  I was also proud to announce that Duncanville High School won the award for the largest number of attendees.  The proceeds raised will help pay for mammogram and prostate exams for those in need. Great job Panthers!

A Storm Could Be Your Blessing

Rain… rain… go away, come again another day. But not tomorrow, I have the cancer awareness walk. Not Sunday, I’ve got church. Not Monday, it’s a big day at work. Okay... on second thought, bring it on! God gives us flowers after the showers. So let Him handle the storms!

If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It

A lady at the gym gave me a mic today and said it’s broken, you need tape to hold your batteries in. After she took her tape off, I put my batteries in and prepared to tape it up. Then I realized she just hadn’t properly closed the latch. It’s like us! Sometimes we have to completely close doors to move forward and live up to our full potential. BUT just because others say something is broken (marriages, relationships, lives), doesn’t mean it is. ~ Starlene

Snakes In The Grass...

As I jogged today, a car was headed my way. I thought about moving into the grass. But I didn't. The car passed and as I looked down, I saw a snake in the grass. After a scream, I continued on my journey & thanked God for keeping me on the right path. Remember, no matter how many snakes in the grass you face or the number of obstacles that come your way, with God's guidance, you will be safe. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

No more helicopter work for me!

Eight years have passed since my helicopter crash.
It was April 11, 2002.
This pic is me with my 1st TV pilot, Shanon Burton.
He wasn't flying me when we crashed.
But he was there in the hospital when I awoke.
Friends for life!

So Glad You Stopped By...

Hi there!

Welcome to my personal blog.
There's so much to talk about and so little time to do it on-air.
So, stop by here for my little "expansion show!"
Plus we can talk, vent and laugh without constraints...
Well, we still gotta behave!

TTYL~
